How to Choose a Forex Broker and Avoid Scams

Evaluate regulation, fund handling, execution, withdrawals and costs without relying on ads or profit promises.

Answer first

What you should remember

  • Verify the licence number in the regulator's own register.
  • Test deposits, withdrawals and execution with a small amount.
  • Guaranteed returns or pressure to send money are red flags.
01

Verify the legal entity

One brand can contain several legal entities. Match entity name, licence number, domain and address in the regulator's register and identify which entity holds the account and what protections apply.

02

Funds and withdrawals

Read client-money handling, withdrawal, fee and verification policies. Start small and test a withdrawal early rather than discovering conditions after a large transfer.

03

Execution and cost

Compare spread, commission, swap, slippage and platform stability under real conditions, not the advertised minimum spread alone. Keep order records if repeated discrepancies appear.

04

Scam warning signs

Beware guaranteed returns, unlicensed account management, transfers to personal wallets, remote-access requests or extra fees to unlock withdrawals. Never share passwords or verification codes with staff.

Frequently asked questions

Is regulation alone enough?

It is important but does not replace checking the entity, costs, execution, withdrawals and complaints process.

Does a bonus prove quality?

No. Read bonus and withdrawal conditions; a promotion does not prove safety or execution quality.

Educational and analytical content only; not personal advice or a profit guarantee. Leveraged currency trading can result in capital loss.
